Welcome Good Times Sportfishing!

Fishing Reports 2009

October 2009
It's official the Lake Ontario fishing season is over. The Good Times III came out of the water 9/29/09 and went to Reiter's Marina for the winter. In the spring we will have a cockpit heater to help keep us warm on those cool May mornings.
That's right we've already started to work on next years plan ie, brochures, videos & shows. Right now we will be committing to the Bradford KOTZ show Feb 26 & 27, 2010, as well as the Scranton show around the third saturday in March 2010. There will be others that will be announced here & the front page of the Web site-so come back often to see the show listings.
All in all it was a good year for the Good Times team, fishing was very different, we had Salmon from the middle of July until late sept. Some of the best Salmon fishing this year was the last two weeks of July thru the first week of August. We also had big Brown Trout during that same time period. It won't be long and we will see the new fishing season & what surprises it will hold for us.
We've already started our 2010 bookings, be sure to call or email us with the dates you want held for your group. We will be giving nice discounts on May, June & July Brown Trout trips.
All the pictures are posted in the Photo Album, If by chance you do not see one of your pictures call me so I can get it in there.
In closing Nick & I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all of you that fished with us this year & hope you will make a plan to come back & fish the 2010 season with us. Any questions you may have, feel free to call us @ 607-768-9121.

We have Sept 17, 19 & 20 open, Give us a call to reserve one of these day for an adventure of a lifetime. Our number is 607-768-9121.

Brown trout fishing continues to be good. Salmon has been slow, however we picked three today. We are still fishing the same spot for the last 3 weeks, 145 to 190 fow, down about 105 ft. The flashers remain the same as mentioned before, the torpedo diver is really helping to pick those couple extra fish you need in every trip. The fishing only gets better from here to the middle of Sept. We are already seeing some Salmon in the river. I'm at the lake until Sept 14, so reports will be fewer. Our days are near full with only a couple afternoon trips available. Call us if you would like a shot at catching a big SALMON.

Fishing on Lake Ontario continues to be very good. We are catching some very nice Salmon every trip, the largest this last week was 29lbs. Salmon fishing was North of the Salmon River in 135 to 145 fow down 105 ft. The menu was spin doctors & flies.
Gator with an a-tom-mik pro am fly produce most of the fish. White on white & green on green also did well. Spoons did not pick any fish this week. We have 2 days available right now, August 12 & 13 CALL now to reserve them for you!

July 28, 2009
Last week was what dreams are made of, Salmon & lots of them. We expect them to stay around now until spawn time. They will move in & out as the thermoclines change as a result of wind. This week we found them in 120 to 145 fow down 89 to 110 ft. Flasher fly combos worked well. Spoons took a few fish as well, stinger black widow & the die hard. Be sure and look at the photo album to see some of them, the largest being a little over 27#. We have only 6 morning trip left & a few afternoons. CALL NOW to reserve a big Salmon for your dinner table, the # is 607-768-9121.

SALMON-SALMON! For the last two weeks we've been picking up some nice Salmon. They're probably here to stay, as they continue to move closer to the Salmon River in spite of the west wind blowing & blowing. They're in 120 to 180 fow down 100 to 120 ft, flashers white, green and chrome are best with a hammer fly . We have only a couple days available the last week in July, you will get salmon fishing at a big discount, we also have a couple days left in early August-call now & put your name on a big Salmon's departure list. Our # is 607-768-9121

Fishing the last 2 weeks has been challenging. We did not fish this past weekend because of a big 2 day blow.
The weekend before we started to catch some small Salmon near 9-mile power plant along with a few Steelhead. The hot spoon was a Stinger black widow. Wednesday we fished near Oswego (a 17 mile run), fishing was a little better. We put a nice 20 lb king salmon in the boat, with a beautiful 12lb steelhead, also a 9lb, dropped another 3 steelhead. The king & the large steelhead came on a crome frog spin-doctor with a glow green atomic fly, the other steelhead came on an orange nbk. All the fish came 65 down over 210 ft of water. We have a few days left in July, which we are offering a big discounts on these dates. We also have a few SALMON dates left please call now to get yours. We will see you on the water.

Well, the lake was beautiful this weekend. We found a good supply of big brown north of the Salmon River - 16 miles near Henderson on Saturday. My derby crew & I went scouting to see if we could find them. These browns are a bigger class, we got 11, with the largest being 10.5 lbs. We went back on Sunday, they had moved but when we found them, what fun we had 5 browns & 2 bass & we lost 2 browns at the back of the boat. We fished 15 to 30 foot of water & it was a mix of stickbaits And spoons.

Fishing this weekend was better than last weekend, brown trout fishing has been slow but is now in the improving stage as the lake starts to set up. Last weekend we got a beautiful 10 lb brown north of the salmon river off the north dune. It came on a stinger black widow. We have been still fishing quite shallow, 10 to 20 ft of water. Now as the thermoclines set up we will be moving out and follow the brown's to deeper water. July brown trout fishing can be great, we have a few good July dates available CALL Now to get yours at a great rate! We are still offering our summer discounted rates for brown trout. Salmon season is just around the corner, we only have 4 morning dates available with a few more afternoons left- CALL early to get yours.

We fished this last weekend Fri,Sat & Mon. The wind blew this weekend which made it tough fishing. Friday John & John went for a short trip until the wind kicked up. John got a nice brown in that short time. We did have 3 surprises all Perch that bit our stick baits. Saturday my derby team was on board and we fished 3 to 5 foot sea to get our 6 browns to weigh in, 6 was the limit for this derby. We finished 10th out of 66 entries. They ranged in size from 3 to 6 pounds. As a bonus we caught a nice walleye of about 5 lbs. Monday was a nice day NO WIND & we fished with Jim & family from New Milford, PA. We put some heavy browns in the box. Fishing was slow because of the 2 day blow, but we pick along. Reports still have some Kings off shore in 150 to 170 fow, they are also scattered from all the wind.
We have a lot of good dates left and if you like the idea of catching big fish call NOW. Don't forget we are offering big discounts for trips in june & July. There are a few good SALMON dates available call to see if one them fits into your schedule.

Fished Mike from the White Haven, PA area and we had a good day. The lake was smooth after a blow on thursday, with the fish being a little scattered. We went 5 for 9 Brown Trout and released unharmed. We fished in 8 to 10 ft of water using all stick baits. The rapala perch was the best, followed by black & siler challanger, one on a black &silver smithwick. All these fish came north of the Salmon River. No pictures this week with all the fish being released & the cameras left in the trucks.

We did not have charters this weekend, so we derby fished the LOC.org. Fished with a friend of mine on his boat. What a day it was, fished for Salmon in Mexico Bay and boy they were there. We went 9 for 13 in two & a haft hours. 8 kings & 1 steelhead, the 5 we dropped were salmon. The largest 1 weighed in @ 20.3 lbs, WOW what a fish for this time of year. We just hope they stay for a while before they go off to deep water for the summer.

We started fishing arund 6:15 am with clear & cool weather. BJ & Chuck from Boyertown, PA. We trolled all stickbaits in black & silver, firetiger as well as a perch pattern. It was a slower pick of fish today, but we did pick away at them. We ended up with 6 for 9 in 3 1/2 hrs. trolling the same north south pattern as the day before in 8' to 10' fow the temperature was still the 52/53 degrees. This was Chuck's first limit of Lake Ontario Brown Trout.

Our season begins with a great morning. A little short 2 hr trip to test all the equipment & it went well. With Butch & Linda from New Jersey on board. Linda had not fished Lake Ontario before, it didn't take long & we had our first "FISH ON" just outside the mouth of the Salmon River trolling north. We lost that one, minutes later another one is on & Linda vowed that one would not get away. Linda brought that one to the net along with the next two, GREAT job Linda! Butch brought in the next two & the wind picked up, so we decided to head for the dock with the 5 of 6 Brown Trout. We started at 8am & finished at 10am. Fishing 8' to 10' foot of water which was 52/53 degrees. We fished all stick baits off planer boards, smithwicks black & silver along with a firetiger pattern.
